Habemus Habeas
We have habeas. Once again we have habeas corpus among our rights.
The Supreme Court has decided, 5-4, that a law abrogating this right for foreigners picked up on the battlefield of their own homeland is not constitutional.
Anybody in an American jail now gets to know why they are there. So does the world.
Will we now open our secret prisons to the Red Cross? Will we let the Red Cross tell the world what they find?
How will we recompense the innocent?
